I reacted to Mom's dilemma as a boatman with the strong thought
forming in my young mind, "It's better to be the fisherman than the rower."

Bar Z X Ranch, Colorado - May 1999

Direct from Andros Island I headed to the Bar Z X Ranch in Colorado for some world class trout fishing. This marked my second year fishing with Brent Curtice as my guide. This has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Fifteen different spring fed lakes that Owner Dean Lampton manages very well, offer you a chance at numerous trout over 5 pounds. The possibility is there to catch trout that break the 20 pound mark. I have caught many over 10 pounds and hooked several that were larger and a few that have broke an 8 pound tippet. Rainbows, German Browns, Eastern Brook, Cutthroat, and Cutbows are all plentiful in various lakes. If you enjoy lake fishing and trophy trout then don't miss a trip to the Bar Z X Ranch. My personal favorite line for lake fishing is the mini tip. This line has a 5 foot sinking tip and can be fished from shore, float tube, or boat. I also use our new long shot floating line for easy distance casting and a T-130 or T-200 when getting the fly deeper is necessary. A wonderful trip with friends or your family.
