I fished a little while ago with a man, not in his first youth, who had
wasted the flower of his life on business and golf and gardening and motoring
and marriage, and had in this way postponed his initiation far too long.

Chile - March 2004

The end of March started with my trip down to Chile for some Rainbows and Browns at Juncales Lodge, then on to Cameron Lodge. Fishing was slow for the most part at Cameron Lodge on the Rio Grande River. The water was fairly low and clear with fish staying down in Argentina awaiting the rain.

We did catch some very nice trophy Browns up to 21 pounds, we had to put in our time and work for them. Our Teeny Mini-Tip line and the T-130, T-200 and Tip taper 175 proved to be the best lines.

Again, it was Teeny Nymphs and Leeches in colors of Ginger, Antique Gold, Insect Green and Black. Our teeny Flash Flies in color combos of Blk/Gin, Blk/Org, Blk/Purp and Nat/Ging were the best color combos.

Cameron Lodge was first class with a great staff and excellent guides. The food was excellent. We had miles of uncrowded waters to fish as we wanted and when we wanted. Gonzalo Cortez who owns the “Fly Shop” in Santiago, Chile put this trip together and always does an excellent job.
