To the fisherman born there is nothing so provoking of
curiosity as a fishing rod in a case.

Spring Chinook, Oregon Coast & Deschutes Redsides - July 2003

I did a couple of trips to the Oregon Coast in July and fished for Spring Chinook and did quite well. T-Series lines and shorter 4 foot leaders with our new Sparkle Nymphs size #6 in chili color proved deadly on Springers.

We also picked up some new summer Steelhead. Water conditions were low and clear and we could spot some of the fish.

Our runs of Steelhead and Salmon have been strong the last few years and it's nice to have our fish back again in Oregon and Washington.

In addition you could cast for Dolphin, Barracuda, Sharks, Permit and Tarpon. Barracuda and Sharks can always be found along with Bonefish.

I finally tied up some top water Teeny Flies and went after Oregon's Deschutes River Redsides. I used a foam body and Pheasant feathers and they were not all that good looking but the trout loved them. I have to admit it was fun watching those Wild Trout come to the surface to take your fly.
