I headed to Seward Alaska with my Alaska rep. Tony Weaver and Donna Teeny. We fished the saltwater with Jimi Sea Charters. Jimi was our guide and knew the ocean like the back of his hand. We tried for halibut with our lines and flies, but had no luck. At times we were 80 to 100 feet deep but the currents or tide change seemed a bit strong. We did catch a ton of fish and had a great saltwater experience. Sea Bass to 6 pounds, Ling Cod to over 50 pounds, and Pacific Cod to nearly 6 pounds. We also caught a variety of other fish. This type of saltwater fly fishing is untapped and wide open for anyone interested and wanting lots of action. This was my second Alaska saltwater trip and I plan to do it again next season. Our Saltwater Series lines 650 and 750 were the best for getting deep quickly. There were times in 20 to 40 feet of water that a T-200 or T-300 worked just fine. Flashy flies worked well so along with our pheasant tails I would add in crystal flash in a variety of colors.
