It was late April, with the river running fine and
as clear as a young person's conscience.

Wilderness Lakes, Canby, OR

Recently I went fishing with my Son-in-law Eric, and my grandson Garrett, at this fabulous place. Garrett is only 4 1/2 years old, but a very tall young man! He loves to fish so this was a very special trip just for him. Garrett would try to cast the fly line, but to be honest, his timing was just a bit off. Eric or myself would cast out and Garrett would grab the rod and pull the line back in. He hooked several trout and landed some really nice fish up to about 3+ pounds. As you can see we got some pretty nice photos.

Sam and Mary Lou Phillips own Wilderness Lakes, and I must say it is great to have such a quality trout fishery so close to home. The setting is beautiful with nice trees around the three different lakes. I've personally caught trout up to 25 1/2 inches and I suspect a few larger are cruising around. If one is in the Portland area and looking for a very nice fishing experience give Wilderness Lakes a call, you won't be disappointed. Our Teeny Nymphs and Leeches work well in size 8, 10, 12, and 14. Best colors are ginger, black, natural, insect green, and antique gold.
